New Resources Focus Investment on Long-term Value Creation

The Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism is dedicated to making capitalism work for everyone. We partner with private, public, and civic sector leaders on initiatives to make capitalism inclusive and its benefits more widely and equitably shared. Together with our partners , we are working for a fairer, more dynamic, and sustainable future for all.

Framework for Inclusive Capitalism

A bipartisan, cross-sector Commission of America’s most respected business, academic, civic, and political leaders have come together to establish a set of 21 policy and practice recommendations to restore the promise of greater opportunity and upward mobility for all workers. Adoption of the Commission’s recommendations will help create an economy that is more fair and just, and that produces more sustainable growth and social equity over the long-term.

Council for Inclusive Capitalism

Global CEOs across the economic ecosystem are leading a global movement to create long-term value for all stakeholders. Council members commit their organizations to specific actions to build a more inclusive, sustainable and trusted economic system that addresses the needs of people and the planet.

Pension Fund Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism

We are bringing together some of the world’s largest pension funds with technical and legal advisors to steer investment away from short-termism. Pension Fund Coalition members are developing tools to better enable asset owners to focus investment on social and environmental objectives and material long-term value creation.

Embankment Project for Inclusive Capitalism (EPIC)

Developed by the Coalition with EY, EPIC is a market-led initiative of 30 organizations representing the entire investment value chain and almost $30 trillion in assets under management (AUM). EPIC developed a standardized, material and comparable set of metrics for the measurement of activities that drive lasting value across a broad range of stakeholders.

We have to learn a lasting lesson from recent crises: A more inclusive and equitable capitalism is better for business and for Americans. I encourage leaders at every level to use their power, platforms and resources to help their employees and communities overcome the challenges we face and build a better world for us all.

Addressing the inequities in our economic system requires the involvement of the public, private, and nonprofit sectors working together on solutions that are both linguistically and culturally relevant and inclusive of workers, including Latino and immigrant workers, who are an essential part of the American workforce.

As we come out of this economic downturn, we need to build a stronger economy that will benefit everyone through broadly shared prosperity and greater market power for workers. As jobs change in the digital economy, we need to make training accessible and affordable for workers, including labor-management training, so we grow opportunities throughout our workforce.

It is time to update how we value companies and measure their impact on all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

We live in unprecedented times, and the world needs to change if it is to support a growing economy in a more sustainable and inclusive way.

To ensure a prosperous, equitable, and inclusive American economy, we need to restore fair gainsharing with employees, revitalize the right to join a union, lift the voice of all workers, address persistent racial inequality and economic insecurity in all struggling communities, and engage America’s productive workforce to transform our nation’s infrastructure and tackle climate change.

We are witnessing a historic shift in our economies as more businesses derive greater value from intangible rather than tangible assets. Measuring these intangibles is both important and notoriously difficult. That is why we applaud the Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism for bringing together key stakeholders.

Effective leadership requires more than just charting a path forward; true leadership requires charting a path toward . . . toward a more equitable, more sustainable, more compassionate future. Toward purpose.
